God's Light Shines in a War-Torn Land

“My family serves in ministry in a serious war zone. The chaos and fear brought by the war have plunged many people into despair. However, in this land full of gunpowder, God’s light still shines in the darkness. As a pastor, I deeply feel called by God to serve those who are struggling in the war and bring them hope and comfort.

I felt very uneasy when I first stepped into the war zone. Gunshots and explosions could be heard at any time. Villages are made up of destroyed homes and displaced families. In these desperate scenes I saw souls eager for help.

With your partnership, my team and I began to provide material relief to the affected families, including food, drinking water, and medical supplies. Although resources are limited, every donation carries God’s love.

In addition to material help, we also pay attention to the needs of the soul. In a temporary shelter, we organized prayer meetings, Bible lessons, and worship. Although there are differences in language and culture, God’s love transcends it all.

The people we serve here are encountering Christ through the help we offer. For example, we met a woman whose husband disappeared in the war. She could barely survive and her young child was dying of malnutrition. She couldn’t stop crying when we prayed for her and offered her aid. Finally, she held my hand and said, ‘Thank you for bringing hope, and letting me know that God has not forgotten us.’

It is not easy to serve in war, and sometimes we ourselves will face danger. Once, our convoy was trapped in the war zone and we could hardly get out. I prayed with my team members and asked God to protect us. In the end, we miraculously got out safely. This experience made me understand more clearly that security does not lie in the environment, but in the presence of God.

In the midst of war, God is still calling His people to comfort the broken-hearted. I deeply believe that no matter how dangerous the environment is, God’s love can change people’s hearts and bring true peace to this war-torn land.”
