The best way to transform regions of adversity is by empowering the churches within them.

There’s an age old adage about “teaching a person to fish” instead of giving them a fish. What if there’s a missing part about the leader passing the lessons on to his entire community, and how the person who was taught knows the region, the people, and “the fishing pond” far better than the teacher, and only by combining their knowledge and resources can the community be saved?

For 50 years WorldServe has been connecting donors with projects to strengthen, teach, equip, partner, and transform communities through the churches already serving them. Because when you partner with local leaders, the changes can last for generations.

Pastors around the world serve their communities despite tremendous hardships. Some serve in war-torn areas, serve in persecuted regions, and many amid abject poverty.

WorldServe is uniquely positioned to strengthen these churches by partnering with local pastors who proclaim and live out the Gospel by distributing emergency relief, care for children, distribute Bibles, and set up sustainable solutions like micro-businesses, children’s care homes, and places for Bible training. After decades serving these communities, WorldServe has deeper roots, greater access, longer duration, and more community connections than temporary relief efforts can create.
