Peng* had to be careful. Where he lived, persecution against followers of Christ had recently increased drastically. The pastor of his home church was arrested. They weren’t even allowed to speak with each other online about their faith. But Peng’s passion for God’s Word never ceased. He had a deep longing in his heart to become a pastor and missionary someday, and to spread the Good News throughout his country despite the risks.
He loved to tell all his friends about the life and hope he found in Jesus. During all the challenges and loneliness his country faced, Peng knew how life-changing it was to have relationship with God. He wanted everyone to experience His love!
When sharing with his friends, sometimes they’d ask him difficult questions about the Bible. Because it’s difficult to access teaching and Christian study resources where Peng lives, he was often at a loss trying to answer their questions. He still had many of his own! Moments like these made Peng realize how important it was to study the Bible in depth before pursuing a life in ministry.
When you supported Peng to study with WorldServe Bible College (WSBC), things began to change. Every day, he’s becoming more and more equipped for life as a pastor! As his knowledge of God’s Word has deepened, he’s able to answer difficult questions he’s asked when evangelizing.
In addition to the practical knowledge Peng is receiving through his studies, he’s also found fellowship and community with his fellow students and his teachers. Life as a Christian can be lonely and frightening where Peng lives—building relationships like these is vital for followers of Christ!
