Marina*, a 78-year-old widow, sat alone in her tiny dwelling. Buckets scattered around the floor to collect water from the leaking roof. With no family to turn to and meager resources, her days blended into a monotonous routine of solitude and hunger. She often wondered how she would survive another day.
Pastor Tajo* met Marina and discovered how much she, and countless other elderly people needed help. As community challenges increase, more and more are fleeing the country leaving many elderly people without any care. In addition to this, rising costs of living and food scarcity makes it more challenging than ever to survive as a vulnerable person.
Thanks to your pastoral partnership, Tajo’s church took steps towards making a lasting change! The congregation pooled their meager resources towards starting a ministry to serve the elderly in their community. Out of their own poverty, meals were prepared to keep those in need nourished for days to come. Each also received love through free manicures and barber services. Living areas were cleaned and repaired. They even provided rides to the doctor, a much-needed service in the wake of the transportation crisis.
Above all these acts of service, the loving community Marina found through the church touched her heart the most. After enduring so much loneliness her heart felt full once more!
Through you, the forgotten in society experience God’s great love for them. Your support in leaders like Tajo changes the lives of people like Marina forever!
