Marye*’s peaceful life was changed when war invaded her country. When rebel forces reached their village, Marye, and countless others in her community were brutally beaten and violated. Others were murdered.
“I was in complete darkness after that,” Marye explained, “I could not help my children. We had nothing to eat. I was planning to end my life. I knew that day would come, and I was just waiting for the right time and place.”
Marye’s story is one of many. Invading forces devastated villages by burning down homes, murdering the innocent, and raping women of all ages.
Many people stepped up to partner with the Trauma Healing project. Local church leaders were equipped to offer support to those grieved by war. You’ve provided them with a second chance at life, finding hope and healing in the Creator.
Marye said, “When I heard there was a counselling course, I jumped for joy! God had mercy on me and gave me very caring teachers. They knew what to say, they were soft spoken and most of all, loving. I survived death because of the trauma training. Now I have changed. I know God loves me. Now I don’t want to die, but I want to live for my children. If nothing else, know this: you saved my life and the life of my children.”
